TikTok, the popular social media platform, is set to launch a new feature called AI Avatars. This TikTok-owned feature will allow users to create personalized avatars using artificial intelligence technology.
With this new feature, users can upload up to 10 photos of themselves and select from five different art styles to generate up to 30 unique avatars within a matter of minutes.
Creating an AI Avatar on TikTok is simple and easy. Once users upload their photos, the AI software will generate different avatar options based on the selected art style. The results are impressive and look very similar to the original photos.
Users can then download their chosen avatars and use them as profile photos or stories.

Although the style options for AI Avatars are more limited than those available on Lens, the results are still very good. However, TikTok users will only be able to use the feature once a day to avoid overloading servers.
While generative AI images may seem harmless, the technology is not without controversy. Some artists have raised concerns that AI software has sampled their work and used it without permission. For instance, artists who use Lens and Midjourney have complained about their work being borrowed without their consent.
It is important to note that earlier this year, Getty filed a lawsuit against Stable Diffusion over alleged data scraping to create art.
This highlights the need for ethical considerations and precautions when using AI technology.
